Gathering of Growers: Tree Planting at St. John Faith Community Garden
Join us for the first Gathering of Growers of 2026 — a community tree planting workshop at the beautiful St. John Faith Community Garden!
We’re partnering with TreeFolks to expand the garden’s young orchard and plant 30 new fruit trees that will nourish this space for years to come. Together, we’ll learn how to select healthy trees, prepare soil, and plant for long-term success, blending hands-on learning with shared stewardship of the orchard.
Whether you’re a seasoned grower or brand new to planting, this event is for you. Come ready to get your hands in the soil, learn, and connect with fellow growers and tree experts from across Austin.

🌳 No experience necessary — all ages welcome!

Acompáñanos en el primer Gathering of Growers de 2026! Este es un taller comunitario para la planta de árboles en el hermoso Jardín Comunitario St. John Faith.
Este taller se realiza en colaboración con TreeFolks, con el objetivo de ampliar el nuevo huerto y plantar 30 árboles frutales que alimentarán a la comunidad durante muchos años. Aprenderemos juntos cómo seleccionar árboles saludables, preparar la tierra y plantar de manera exitosa a largo plazo. Haremos esto combinando el aprendizaje práctico, colaborando todos como comunidad en el cuidado del huerto.
Esta oportunidad está disponible tanto para jardineros expertos como para principiantes. Ven con ganas de poner las manos en la tierra y aprender, al mismo tiempo que conoces a otras personas con ganas de cultivar árboles en Austin.

Session 1 of a “Gathering of Growers” was held online, Wednesday, May 25th, from 5:30 – 7 p.m.
Designed to be a highly interactive gathering, people who joined the session had the opportunity to learn from the presenters and have small-group conversations to share experiences and explore solutions to common challenges.
Gathering of Growers Session 2:
Engaging your Community
Session 2 of a “Gathering of Growers” will be held online-
Wednesday, August 31st, from 5:30 – 7 p.m.
Designed to be a highly interactive gathering, people who joined the session had the opportunity to learn from the presenters and have small-group conversations to share experiences and explore solutions to common challenges.
The online session included several speakers from different backgrounds who share insights into how to foster strong, mutually beneficial relationships that honor people’s diverse interests, backgrounds and contributions. This second Gathering of Growers of 2022 focused on methods and tools for successful community engagement through the lens of diversity, equity and inclusion.
The Gathering of Growers series is possible because of a City of Austin Urban Forestry Grant.
